Chicago SQL Server User Group

In case you missed it, after 10 years Bill Lescher (@blescher) decided to step down from the Chicago SQL Server User Group presidency.  In those 10 years, Bill missed only 2 meetings.  Since then he has been profiled on the SQLPASS Community Connector here and a finalist in the Exceptional DBA Awards here.  I have privately thanked him for his 10 years of consistent volunteering and would like to do so publicly as well.

Thank you Bill.

Going forward Frank Gill  (blog | @skreebydba) and I are taking the reins as co-presidents (yup it takes 2 to fill Bill’s shoes Smile) and he has already blogged about it here.

One of things that we are focusing on is more involvement from the local community.  We’ve already put out a request for new speakers, even if it’s only 15 minutes.  It’s a low risk environment to share what you know (and yes, you know something and have a unique perspective that we can all learn from).  We’ve also requested that any local Chicago bloggers let us know so we can link to your blog on http://chicago.sqlpass.org.  If you have any ideas, suggestions, questions, thoughts, feel free to let us know as well.

We also have had a few people have reported they have not received the meeting emails, first go make sure you’re registered to receive them through SQLPASS My Chapters , also remember to check your spam folders since Frank is sending them now instead of Bill.

As a reminder, meetings are on the second Thursday of the month, our next one being Thursday, August 9th.  We’ll be hearing from Ira Warren Whiteside about  (SQL,SSIS,MDS) Advanced Fuzzy Matching Roll Your Own.  Now go RSVP.
